Yurt dweller, Earth lover, tree hugger, dreamer, optimist, hooper, home-maker, and most recently, wife and Mother.
I live off-grid in a yurt with my husband, Tom, and our 10 month old son, Oak. We live in the middle of the woods, run our electricity by solar power, heat our home and water by wood fuel, and have a composting toilet.
To some this may be viewed as a living nightmare; to others we are living the dream. To us it is our life style choice, often hard work but always rewarding, this is our home.
My husband makes and sells yurts, spends the winter months kiln drying and selling fire wood, and the summer months travelling around the UK putting up tipis at festivals. He is forever coming up with new inventions and ideas, loves mountain biking and is always looking for an adventure. We met at a festival in 2011, moved into our yurt together in 2013 and got married in 2014. Our son Oak was born in October of the same year.
I teach Forest School and hoop classes, with a passion for outdoor learning and creative play. I love camping, festivals and travelling. Right now I am on the adventure of a life time being a full-time Mummy. Oak arrived 13 weeks earlier than expected and hasn't stopped surprising us yet as he has grown from tiny acorn to mighty Oak.
Follow our journey through the seasons as I embark on off-grid motherhood, life in the woods, summers on the road and adventures in 'Bumble', our beloved camper van. The trials, tantrums and triumphs of bringing up a small yurtling.
~Blessings,
Gemma
